Rating: The claim is TRUE. The Biden administration did deport 33 Vietnamese immigrants. It is following the lead of the Trump administration, who had deported almost 300 Vietnamese immigrants. Many of the people deported committed small crimes and misdemeanors and had already served prison sentences for their crimes.
Claim: The King Radio, a right-wing Vietnamese YouTube Channel has repeatedly claimed that officials in President Joe Biden’s administration have ties to China, and that China rigged the 2020 Election for Biden.
Rating: Those claims are FALSE. There is no evidence from government officials that China interfered in the 2020 Election. There is also no evidence that anyone in Biden’s administration has ties to the Chinese Communist Party, not Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines nor Secret Service Agent David Cho, who is Korean-American.
Claim: Joe Biden has been named the President-Elect of the United States, but President Donald Trump has refused to concede the election, saying Biden’s win was a result of widespread voter fraud.
Rating: This claim is FALSE. Election officials in all 50 states, as well as the Department of Homeland Security, have called the 2020 Election “the most secure in American history.” Furthermore, the state of Texas filed a lawsuit contesting the results of the election, but the Supreme Court refused to hear the case. On Dec. 14, the Electoral College affirmed Biden’s win, officially making him the winner of the 2020 Election.
Claim: President Donald Trump and other Republicans have claimed that former vice president Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris are socialists and their policies are socialist policies.
Rating: This claim is FALSE. A socialist agenda would be one that dismantles private businesses so that the government would control production. Biden’s actions during the Obama presidency, as well as his detailed policy proposals as a presidential candidate, does not show that he wants to get rid of private businesses. Instead, it shows an equal focus on expanding public programs such as Medicaid and education, while working with private companies in areas like healthcare and renewable energy.
Claim: Multiple polls have shown that a large number of people who support Vice President Joe Biden are women, and that women will be a key demographic in deciding this election.
Rating: We rate this claim as TRUE. Women make up 51% of the American population and these polls show that Biden has the overwhelming support of female voters going into the 2020 election. This is most likely due to his work as a co-sponsor on the Violence Against Women Act, which reduced domestic violence against women by 64%. His work in the Obama Administration also helped raise awareness of the prevalence of sexual assault on college campuses and among young people.
Claim: President Donald Trump has said that former Vice President Joe Biden and the Democrats support late-term abortion, including up until the moment of birth.
Rating: This is MOSTLY FALSE. Joe Biden supports Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court ruling that made abortion legal in the United States. In the U.S., abortion is legal up until about 24 weeks. After that point, abortion is only allowed in situations where the woman’s life is threatened or if the fetus has birth defects that would not let it live outside of the womb.
